Jerry is President of HOVIN Underwriting Partners, Inc. and co-founder of the company in 2005 with Janet Vincent. Jerry brings to HOVIN 45 years of life underwriting experience. Jerry is a Fellow with Distinction of the Academy of Life Underwriting, Fellow Life Management Institute, a Chartered Life Underwriter, and past President of the Home Office Life Underwriters Association, now AHOU. An AHOU member, he attends several industry meetings each year.

Janet L. Vincent, Executive Vice President Jan is Executive Vice President of HOVIN Underwriting Partners and co-founder of the company in 2005. Prior to opening HOVIN, Jan was Assistant Vice President of Underwriting and New Business for a major life insurance company. Jan brings over 25 years of life underwriting experience. One of her specialties is the designing of new underwriting and new business systems and implementing new underwriting programs. A few of these underwriting programs are the Teleapp Program and the Express Underwriting Team. Jan is a member of AHOU, has completed various CLU and LOMA exams, and attends yearly industry meetings to keep abreast of current information and technology. She is ECG certified.

Leeann Hansen, Assistant Vice President of Underwriting Leeann joined HOVIN in 2007, bringing 20 years experience in the life insurance industry. She is responsible for management of the underwriting staff. Her most recently held position before joining us was as Chief Underwriter/Manager. Leeann also worked as a Policy Issue Specialist, Case Manager, and Director of Underwriting. She has completed LOMA and ALU courses and attends several industry meetings each year. Leeann is ECG certified.

Herbert W. Jones, Chief Underwriter Herb has been with HOVIN Underwriting Partners since 2006. Prior to joining HOVIN, Herb's successful career includes management positions at major life insurance companies. Herb brings over 40 years underwriting experience to HOVIN. Herb is a member of AHOU and has passed several LOMA exams.

Robert J. Lapierre, FLMI, Chief Underwriter Bob joined HOVIN in 2007 and has brought HOVIN over 40 years of brokerage underwriting experience. He is a graduate of Fairfield University. Bob is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute. He worked many years at a large company in Hartford, Connecticut where he was an underwriter and manager of the new business area. Before coming to HOVIN, Bob was Chief Underwriter at a major life insurance company, specializing in large, complex, older age cases where he was part of the Large Case team. He is a mentor to many of the other underwriters. Bob is also a FINRA Registered Representative. He attends several industry meetings each year. Bob is ECG certified.

Margaret M. Taff, FALU, FLMI, Chief Underwriter Margaret joined HOVIN in 2008, bringing with her over 20 years of underwriting experience. She is a graduate of Northeastern University as well as Pennsylvania State University. Margaret came to us from a major life reinsurance company where she was a Senior Underwriting Consultant. She also has experience conducting underwriting audits for both internal and external client companies. Margaret, an FALU and FLMI, has also completed several CLU and HIAA courses and is the Curriculum Group Coordinator for the Education Committee of the Academy of Life Underwriting. She is ECG certified.

Joyce Fisher, Director, Underwriting, FALU, FLMI Joyce joined HOVIN in 2010 bringing 16 years of underwriting experience. Her most recent roles were Remote Underwriter, Technical Underwriting Director, and Director of Underwriting. She has completed several courses at Northeastern University and J. Sargent Reynolds Community College as well as several CLU exams and one HIAA exam. Joyce is the current Vice President of the Ohio Home Office Life and Health Underwriters Association. She has obtained her Series 6 and 26 licenses and is ECG certified.

Cynthia joined HOVIN in 2010 bringing 26 years of underwriting experience. She has performed underwriting audits, including internal staff and auditing of client business on-site and as a reinsurer. Cynthia has organized and presented underwriting seminars for client companies, in addition to presenting underwriting topics on-site at client offices. She is the Administrative Editor of “On The Risk”, Journal of the Academy of Life Underwriters and has also authored two articles. Cynthia has taken graduate courses as well as achieved her Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Iowa. She obtained the AALU designation, passed several LOMA exams and is ECG certified.

Denise M. Girardin, Director, Underwriting Denise joined HOVIN in 2007 after working at a major insurance company as Assistant Underwriting Director. Denise brings HOVIN over 25 years of insurance background with business experience in individual life, group life and disability insurance underwriting, policy administration and customer service. She has completed several LOMA courses and attends several industry meetings each year. Denise is ECG certified.

Dale Hobbs, Director, Underwriting, FALU, FLMI Dale joined HOVIN in 2010 bringing over 25 years of underwriting experience. His previous roles include Technical Director of Underwriting, Director of Underwriting, and Manager of Underwriting. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and the Fellow, Life Management Institute and Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting designations. Dale is ECG certified.

Teresa joined HOVIN in 2009 bringing over 34 years New Business and Underwriting experience in the life insurance industry. Her most recent position was Underwriting Director for a major life insurance company. Teresa has attained an Associate in Customer Service (ACS). She has completed several LOMA courses and multiple management and leadership courses at Indiana University School of Business and Indiana Central University Management Development Main Event Management Institute.

Tracey came to HOVIN in 2007 after working for a major insurance company as an Assistant Director of Underwriting. She represented the underwriting department on projects to assist with new system implementations, system enhancements and workflows. Tracey was responsible for underwriter training on procedures and systems. Tracey is proficient at EKG interpretation. She attends several industry meetings each year.

Kendra joined HOVIN in 2007 after working for a major insurance company as an Assistant Director. She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut. She has completed LOMA and ALU courses. Kendra has brought us over 6 years of underwriting experience. She also helped create and implement a training program for new underwriters. She attends several industry meetings a year.

Robin joined HOVIN in 2009 bringing 6 years of Underwriting and New Business experience. Her most recent position was that of Risk Selection Specialist where she worked for a major life insurance company. Robin obtained her B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing from Bryant College. She is currently the Secretary of the Hartford/Springfield Underwriting Association. Robin is Series 6 licensed and has passed several ALU and LOMA courses.

Pat joined HOVIN in 2007 after working for several major insurance companies as a brokerage underwriter bringing to us over 20 years of insurance background and business management experience. She is a graduate of The University of Hartford where she received her BA, and she received her MA at Saint Joseph's College. She attends several industry meetings a year.

Eileen started at HOVIN in 2007 and has brought us 25 years of experience in Life Underwriting and over 8 years experience in the brokerage market. She has completed LOMA and ALU courses. Eileen is a member of AHOU and attends industry meetings on an annual basis.

Kimberly Sherba, ACS, Assistant Director, Underwriting Kim joined HOVIN in 2009 bringing 16 years of New Business and Underwriting experience. Her most recent position was Underwriting Officer at a major Life Insurance Company. Kim obtained a Bachelor of Science from the School of Education at the University of Connecticut. She is an Associate in Customer Service (ACS) and has completed several ALU courses. Kim is ECG certified.

Kristen joined HOVIN in 2009 bringing over 14 years experience in the insurance industry. She most recently held the position of Senior Life Underwriter for a major life insurance company. Kristen obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Merchandising with a minor in Psychology from Radford University. She has completed HIAA and passed several LOMA and ALU exams.

Cass came to HOVIN in 2007 after graduating from Briarwood College, bringing with her over 5 years experience in the insurance business. Prior to her work at HOVIN, Cass held the positions of Case Manager, New Business Assistant, and Assistant Underwriter at a major life insurance company.

Ross joined HOVIN in 2009 bringing 5 years of experience in the life insurance industry. He graduated from Western New England College with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management as well as with honors from Dean College with an Associates Degree in Business Administration. Since graduating, Ross has held positions such as Underwriter and Life New Business Representative at a major life insurance company. He has completed several ALU courses.

Jill joined HOVIN in 2010 with 10 years of life insurance experience. Her previous role was that of Life Underwriter for a major life insurance carrier. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Pennsylvania State University. Jill has obtained the FALU, FLMI, ACS, AIAA, AIRC, and ALMI designations and is ECG certified.

Laura Wheeler, ACS, AIAA, ARA, AIRC, ALMI, Senior Underwriter Laura joined HOVIN in 2010 bringing 7 years of underwriting experience. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and minored in Pre-Law Studies at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Her designations include ACS, AIAA, ARA, AIRC, and AMLI. Laura has passed several ALU exams and is ECG certified.

Michele joined HOVIN in 2010 bringing over 3 years of underwriting experience. She obtained her Fellow Life Management Institute, Associate Customer Service, and Professional Customer Service designations and is also Series 6 licensed.

Michelle started with HOVIN in 2008 bringing 17 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining HOVIN she held the positions of Manager of Contracts and Sales Agreements, National Accounts Coordinator, and New Business Case Manager for a major life insurance company. Michelle is a graduate of Bay Path College and has completed several LOMA courses. She is also Series 6 and 63 licensed.

Beth joined HOVIN in 2009 bringing 19 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining HOVIN she held the positions of Director Life New Business, Director Distribution Administration, and Director Sales Operations for a major life insurance company. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Vermont and is Series 6 licensed.

Bette brings insurance technology, business analysis and management information skills to HOVIN. During her 35 year property-casualty insurance career, she has held business and IT management positions at major Hartford based insurers.

Katie joined HOVIN in 2007. Before coming to HOVIN she worked as a Support Specialist, Senior Status Representative, and Underwriting Assistant at a major life insurance company. Katie brings over 20 years of brokerage market experience. Katie’s most recent position before coming to HOVIN was as an Underwriter at a reputable brokerage insurance company. She has completed a LOMA course. She has also attended industry meetings and received basic EKG training.

Dawn started at HOVIN in 2007 after spending 7 years in a New Business and underwriting environment. She worked as a New Business Processor for a major life insurance company and later as an Underwriting Assistant. Dawn graduated from Tunxis Community College in 2003 with a degree in Business Office Technology.

Suzanne Melanson, New Business Specialist Suzanne joined HOVIN in 2010. Her previous roles included Office Manager, Event Planner, and Underwriting Assistant. She completed courses at the University of Hartford and Mitchell College.
